December 2018 Updates

After doing a shadow launch in September 2018 to gain some initial data, we at JaD have been customizing our website to meet the needs and wants of our prospective customers and users.
December 2018 Updates

We’ve listened to what our site reviewers and we’ve been improving the site restlessly to ensure that we give you a clean, yet impactful experience. Here are some of the changes we’ve made:

Mobile Ready Experience

Previously, the experience on smartphones or smaller devices wasn’t great. Images were coming off the screen, elements were overlapping and so much more, which would make anyone scream YIKES!!!

UI Improvements

We’re continuing to keep a keen eye on our use of colours, typographic and other elements throughout the site. We are aiming to elegantly incorporate the colours of the Jamaican flag with the site colour palette without overdoing it.

Impactful Catalogues

Search Engine Optimizations

Based on metrics gathered from Google Analytics and users who reviewed the site, we concluded that there was almost no content that was readily available to capture and keep the traffic that was coming from various mediums. Before November 1st, there was little to no traffic on site. However, we started to write and publish useful content on the site, which was automatically published to Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin. Couple days later, more traffic started to accumulate on our site. The screenshot below gives a brief overview of the traffic.

New Content

Like a dish of rice without Ackee and Salt Fish or any meat will leave you very unsatisfied, a website without content will bounce a user off the site. A website needs quality content to peak one's interest and improves the site SEO to keep up in a digital marketplace. And just by adding some Ackee and Salt Fish, Jamaican Style, raises one’s delight. We at JaD have been adding quality content to keep you informed and active in this growing community.

Integrated RSS Feeds

We have also added some interesting sources to keep you updated if we ever fall short to do so.

New Filters

Additionally, we have added some new filters, for instance, the Availability for Hire filter is now accessible on the User Profiles page.

Go Social

In October, we created our Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Instagram and YouTube page. However, we weren’t using the various social media platforms to their full potential. Now, we’ve taken a step closer to share useful information to tonnes of users across our social media pages. We even have taken a step closer to share external sources directly to our social media pages automatically,or instance, posts from ICT Pulse will be shared on our pages.

Can you contribute?

DEFINITELY YES!!! Our team is quite small, in fact, at this very moment of writing this article, the team only comprises of Me, Myself and I. Yes, I know, I should be using I instead of We, but let me ask you this. Doesn't this project has the jazz to attract other teches? Read our article on ways to contribute if you are interested.

We hope we hear more from. If you're interested, please let me know. You can head over to our Slack channels and express your interest.
