About Us

Our Aim

The Jamaican Developers Community aims to bridge the gap between people and companies in the tech industry with each other and the public at large, especially in Jamaica. It aims to provide a central hub for news, events, job opportunities, organisations, exciting projects and websites (especially Jamaican projects and websites).

Why is this community needed?

Jamaica has a wide variety of quality software developers and engineers ranging from mobile, web to desktop application developers. However, there's is a dilemma between companies that are seeking quality developers and developers that cannot find work.  In addition, there are a large number of online and local events, communities and groups for tech in Jamaica, yet, there is no curated list of these resources. Websites like Linkedin, Upwork, Caribbean Jobs and Truelancer aims to solve this problem in their unique way, but they lack focus on the demographics and economics of a country, in this case, Jamaica. For this very reason why we at JamaicanDevelopers.com, JaD for short, is building an intranet-like version of Linkedin to focus on people, companies and technology in Jamaica. We are aiming to create THE COMMUNITY for online resources for tech in Jamaica, as we connect individuals with each other to learn, grow and market their development skills with a community of highly proficient technical officers and companies. We aim to provide the internal and external resources about tech events, jobs, projects, websites, groups and communities in Jamaica, while showcase and outsourcing Jamaican talent in the global market.
